GAIN history

Past achievements

It started in 1998 with the idea of a playpark which grew into a fantastic outdoor play facility which has something for everyone.

Whether your interest is play, skateboarding, basketball, nature trail or getting lost in the maze - or just relaxing in the stunning seaside location of Eoropie Dunes Park - this is the place! Just pack up a picnic and come and explore!

By 2004 we had added numbers of items which linked to the local heritage. These include carved plaques a heritage pole as well as the recently added dry stream bed and mosaic panels. Please see the picture gallery.

We worked on this heritage project with a number of teenagers and it was from there that the youth group idea took hold. One of the older teenagers offered to become a youth leader and so Roots + Wings was formed. This is a programme of youth development that is run for and by the youngsters themselves. Our aim is to have FUN but lots is learnt on the way.

GAIN has a bucketload of awards from the Golden Web Award for our first website of Eoropie Dunes Park, to IPA Right to Play Award in 2003, the National Lottery Award - Runner Up Environmental Project to the Nancy Ovens Award for Outstanding Contribution to Play in 2007.

GAIN did not stop there and have received the Queens Jubilee Award (the MBE for Voluntary Organisations) as well as Physical Activity and Health Association Award in 2010.
