NEW DEVELOPMENT - 2013

Come and have even more fun!

An exciting new development to the park has been funded by the BIG Lottery fund - Community Spaces Scotland. New equipment has been installed in the park. Most of the work was completed by June so the equipment was ready for the children to play on during the school holidays. A replacement slide was added in September and a new outdoor classroom/gazebo will be completed soon.

The children say they love the new equipment - especially the train, rotabounce and the big canelever swing. Come down to the park to try them out!

Watch this space for updates!

NEW EQUIPMENT in 2012

New equipment has been added to the park with the assistance of Bardon Hebrides, local tradesmen and contractors! Why don't you come down to try our new rockers or climb the 6m tall climbing net or just sit back on our new benches and relax!

BACKGROUND TO NEW PROJECT FOR GAIN

The park was opened in 2002 so the equipment is now 10 years old - and some of it is looking its age! We are working up a new project and hope to attract new funding to develop the park -by replacing some equipment and adding some new features.

Last year GAIN conducted a survey which showed 100% of users, school children and members of the community who were surveyed support this initiative. A first stage bid to the Big Lottery has been successful and we developed our ideas over spring/summer 2012 and ran some pilot activities to inform our second stage application for funding which was submitted in October 2012.

GAIN recieved new funding from BIG Lottery in March 2013 for new equipment and activities to encourage greater use of the park!

WE LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING ALL THE NEW EQUIPMENT IN AND WE HAVE STARTED AN EXCITING TIMETABLE OF ACTIVITIOES FOR ALL AGES IN AND AROUND THE PARK.

ACTIVITIES AT THE PARK

Over the Summer of 2012 GAIN held a number of pilot Activity Days. Some were for Family Fun like the Teddy Bears Picnic on 28th April, others involved Green Gym Activities where people volunteered to help with physical activities to benefit the environment in and around the park.

GAIN has had several Mini-Gym Activities where a few volunteers have planted willows and painted the timber of the fences and bridges. GAIN also has a successful Clean Up where volunteers young and old cleaned out litter from the streams and around the park.

Look out for details of further activities for 2013 in Fios, the local community newspaper, or contact Gail 01851 810 518 or Joanne 01851 810 357. Or come back here to see what is happening!
